ESP Random Star Akira Takasaki 'The Black Star'
Akira Takasaki of Loudness has been synonymous with and is responsible for selling a million Random Star guitars in Japan. OK slight exaggeration but the RS models are consistently selling for over 3 decades. ESP unveiled this limited-edition Black Star, designed by Akira himself, to celebrate the 30th anniversary and tour in 2015 of Loudness' landmark album 'Thunder In the East'. Though the band has been active for over 35 years and quite prolific in their recorded output, if they are only to be remembered for that album, it would be enough to earn their place in heavy metal history. It is an all-time classic loaded with killer riffs from start to finish, ahead of their Western contemporaries of the time.
ESP Random Star white & red
the white + red mirror RS was used in the mid-80s tours, and appears on the back cover of the 'Thunder In the East' album. ESP made far less of the white ones than the perennially-popular red variations. This appears to be an early model, though I cannot tell from the serial number (poor record-keeping system in ESP's early days) but I would suspect late 80s- early 90s. Has a flush-mount original Floyd Rose. The ESP logo may appear unusual but is in fact the correct style logo as per the white RS he was actually using in the mid-80s.
