CAPARISON M3 MJR

Symphony X is a great progressive metal band that is quite unfairly perceived as Dream Theater's poor cousin. Though geographically close in origin, their music is quite different. And unfair because their ranks include powerhouse vocalist Russell Allen alongside the musical mastermind, guitarist Michael Romeo, who can match up favourably to their counterparts in any other progressive metal band. The only reason I could imagine why they don't have a bigger profile in the metal world today, is that they lacked a strong image and adequate promotion at their creative peak. The compositions and performances especially on the string of albums starting from Twilight In Olympus to Paradise Lost, ranges from good to brilliant and Michael Romeo, often overlooked as a YJM clone, has technique and control that is beyond reproach. Easily one of the best guitarists in metal, period.
