Gibson Les Paul Custom Steve Jones
There aren't many bands that are as admired and influential today on the basis of a single album, but that's how good Never Mind the Bollocks... is. The myth is that the Sex Pistols were shabby and incapable musicians. How then did they release an album of such confidence & quality in the brief time that they were together? The fact was they were very focused and rehearsed daily(!) and Steve Jones, though new to guitar at the time, practiced for hours daily. Clearly he possesses a rare natural talent on the guitar. But there were no weak links in the band (before Sid joined). As evidence, the incredibly tight and awesome 1996 Filthy Lucre reunion tour performances on Youtube. Even with an obvious dislike for each other they were a seasoned, well-rehearsed unit. According to Steve Jones himself, if the band had stayed together he's certain there would have been more recorded material. Who can imagine how that would have turned out. As it is, thankfully the old B-sides and other extra tracks are also pretty good, so it's a little over a single LP worth of material. (Kiss This pretty much covers it) Forget about 'punk', Bollocks is a solid rock album from start to finish, period. Almost every song is a superbly crafted anthem with great sound, and a powerhouse performance. Dave Mustaine once said, his two biggest guitar influences are Steve Jones and Brian Tatler of Diamond Head. He still signs off autographs with an 'Anarchy' sign.
This Gibson Custom aged replica from 2008 is pretty rare today and limited to only 200pcs. I had a really long and difficult time finding one and paid a very un-punk price for it.
