Gibson Custom Shop Collectors' Choice #10 Tom Scholz
A great band usually has at least one eccentric musical genius, in this case MIT engineer/inventor Tom Scholz, who basically recorded Boston's debut album (1976) in his basement, which went on to sell 25 million copies. Many of their songs are classic rock radio staples today, and rightly so.
In what might be considered a strange choice for Gibson's Collectors Choice series, this is a limited edition replica of Scholz's stripped finish Les Paul. Notably it has a Dimarzio Super Distortion for that classic rock crunch and a P90 in neck for those sweet singing harmony tones. It is hand-reliced and each one is different. All that's missing is a sticker of Mighty Mouse (signifying Scholz's victory over corporate interference in his music). Because it is not a '59 burst clone which everybody wants, and sold for a high price (about US$6k on release) I doubt that initial sales were good and so was possibly discontinued before reaching the max 300 intended to be produced. Subsequently they have become quite hard to find.
